Hello folks, I bought a Model 94 that had the front sight busted off. So I went to Cabelas in Winnipeg and got myself a Williams Gold Dot sight. I just told the guy what gun it was going on and he gave me the sight that he said would be the right height.
So I pound the new sight on and take it to the range. From 25 yards out I wasnt even hitting paper!
I walked up to 10 yards, the thing is shooting 6" high!
I lowered the rear sight ramp as low as it would go, and it was bang on the money at 25 yards.
So I back out to 100 yards, once again cant even touch paper! I took the rear sight ramp right out, still nothing. So I aim at the bottom edge of the paper, just to see how high its hitting. At the bottom of the paper it still shot 4" above the bull.
I'm going to take a wild guess here and say that the front sight is way too low. Is that right? Iron sights always confuse me.
So can anyone tell me what the proper sight height should be?
If it helps it is an 1984 vintage according to the serial # and it has a sight ramp on the front.
Thanks for your help great knowledgable ones!
