Hey guys

I have a question on what a reasonable price is on two model 88's

First is a 1966 in 284 win. Very good condition. Wood has minor marks and blueing is probably 95 percent

Second is a 358 made in 1958 also in vg good condition. This what I would call a flower pattern engraved in the stock. Very few marks in the stock and the blueing is
90 percent sights were removed on this one

I know these are the rare calibres so I expect they are sought after

Thanks

An 88 in .308 that is in good condition seems to bring around $550-$650 generally so I would say a .284 should fetch a couple hundred more. The .284 was introduced in 1963 so I imagine there were a few pre 64 rifles produced(cut checkering etc.) if yours were one of those I would say a lot more than a couple hundred extra. Your .358 is puzzling as you say it is a pre 64 but it has the oak leaf impressed checkering, a post 64 production feature. Is there any chance someone switched the stocks on your 88's because the .284 should have the oak leaf stock and the .358 should have cut checkering? I would switch them back and ask $750 for the .284 and the same for the .358, normally the pre 64 .358 would bring close to a grand but you say someone removed the sights and I assume you mean the front sight as well. My 2 cents.

The 284 has the oak leaf with checkering. The 358 has some sort of flower pattern carved into the wood without the checkering or basket weave. This looks like it was done by hand. Did some internet searching and I didnt see one like this.

I am going to read up on posting pics
