So I finally used up my Win primers and switched to some Feds. HUGE DIFFERENCE!! With the win primers, my primer slider would hang at the back and I'd have to jiggle it so it would slide forward, or would stick and slam back at the end of the stroke. When seating the Win primers, they would resist and I'd have to push a bit harder to seat them. Sometimes they wouldn't seat all the way (even with clean primer pockets) and jam up the press.

The Fed primers on the other hand were FLAWLESS! No primer slide hanging up, and most seated with a little "thunk" (hard to explain if you've never felt it), perfectly just under flush.

I guess this is because the Feds are a bit softer metal? If so, why did it make them feed so much better?

I wonder why mine was so fussy with the Win's. I just banged out another 150 with the Feds and it was flawless once again.

The Win's worked ok, but the Feds are just so silky smooth...

In my Dillon 550 I have no problems using Federal primers, compared to Win not seating fully. I believe they seat better because they are softer. Thank God for double action in my Prod gun. > bang-bang-click-bang-bang.

I have a Dillon SDB, and all I use is Win primers for pistol, and never an issue. I really don't think it's the primers, but more a problem with your primer feed. I would take it apart, clean and inspect it well. You may just need to adjust it a bit.

I'm not so sure the problem lies with the primer slider, as the Feds are flawless.

When I first set it up, there were small burrs on the slider and the pick up tubes, and I fixed those up. I had always thought there was still a problem when using the Wins, as the slider would hang and slam back, but with the Feds, it fed perfectly.

I'm going to pick up some CCI's and see how they work, just for poops and snickers, since the Feds work perfectly.
