Hello,

Cant seem to find what barrel twist was for the .243 version. I believe it might be a 1:10 twist based on other era Winchester rifles in the same caliber.

Anyone know for sure what the twist rate is? I want to do up a load for this rifle but dont want to waste $$$ on doing a bullet/load it wont stabilize.

Cheers

It is fairly easy to determine the twist with a tight patch and a quality cleaning rod, some masking tape and a ruler.

Consider it a 10 twist. It will not handle bullets heavier than the old style 100 grain. The magazine is fairly short too.

SAAMI spec for the cartridge is 1:10. Considering its a Winchester cartridge design I can't imagine they would be deviating from that in their own rifles, and factory ammo was available in 100gr options back in the day (just as it is now).
