I have an older 101 ,both barrels are marked skeet for choke, where does that fit in as far as restriction goes... basically wondering if you'd dare shoot steel out of it?

A Skeet choke is usually around .005” constriction. The choke will not be the issue. I do not have an opinion on whether you should shoot steel or not.

My personal opinion on my 101s is they will never see steel, skeet/skeet or other. Im sure theres folks that would and will argue that but i have other guns for steel, barrels are too thin to chance it for my liking.

If memory serves, one of CGN's more capable shotgun members - the spank - has been shooting steel loads for years in his old japanese made 101. Your gun is likely 2 3/4 inch chambers, many would consider that a shortcoming. Otherwise, shoot away...

I had a 101 skeet gun, great on magpies and such, never tried steel. Those barrels are too thin to my way of thinking, but it is you gun.

I have been shooting steel out of my MIJ 20ga 101 pigeon grade for years......mine is also choked sk/sk......with todays modern loads/cups, your shot does not touch the barrel......shoot away your steel shot through that 101 and enjoy it.....deadly on Doves.

Thanks very much for the info guys, ideally woulda liked to maybe get it out for a duck shoot or two, was more wondering if physically it was possible with those chokes, weather I should is a different story I guess. Not sure I’d chance it, they are very thin barrels for sure, I’d hate to bulge one, gun would be useless or at least worthless. Thanks again for the input
