Hi all, I hope this was the correct section for this thread. My question is how do the new SXP defenders compared to the older 1200 and 1300 defenders? Ive been thinking about picking a defender up in the future but it seems like the used market pricing on the 1200 and 1300s is outrageous compared to the cost of a new SXP defender at $430 retail. Is the quality THAT much better that a used 1200/1300 is actually worth $500 which is more then a new SXP? I know the SXP has one round less capacity and is made in turkey but I have a waterfowl SXP and it is a quality pump action. Looking for peoples insight because I cant seem to understand the pricing on the older models and maybe its a better option to buy new when the time comes.

The 2 appear to be about comparable, the SXP may have a quality edge here as the Turks have made some minor changes to them. I've not heard of an issue with the SXP, then again I've never seen an issue with a 1200/1300/2200 either. I picked up a 1300 Defender recently, made in 1988, in near new condition for $300.

Can't speak for the older 1200/1300s but I have one of the new sxp defenders in 20ga. I am very happy with the quality, solid and the action is super smooth. Also cycles everything, no hiccups and even the lightest loads go through flawlessly.
Everyone I've shown it too instantly wants to play with it.

Ever since Browning bought Winchester I've been a fan. Essentially these are equivalent to entry level Brownings so the quality is there.

I have the 2015 shot show sxp desert defender.
The 2017 shot show sxp dark earth defender is a beauty though. The colour would allow you to use it for turkey or in the bush if you ever wanted to. Options are nice.

I have 4 sxp's currently and sold my 1200.......the guns are similarly built, but I give the edge to the sxp. I have not had a single problem with any of mine and only wish they would bring back the wood defender. I also have the 2017 dark earth defender, its a beauty!!!
