I'm looking for advice. I've got the opportunity to buy a 28inch, with screw in mod choke, 30 yr old mdl 1200 in very good condition (only metal wear is on the feed tube blueing - wood is 90%f) for $300. Is it a good deal?? Or is the owner asking too much?
Thanks for your opinions.

Is it a magnum or 2-3/4" only gun? Vent rib?

If it's a plain barrel 2-3/4" model, I wouldn't pay more than $225. They're good functional guns, but nothing special.

They went new for 300 a number of years ago.
Great gun for sure, Based on EE pricing sounds about norm.

Try 240 first. and if you really like it...
Certainly no slouch in the quality department.

If it was a vent rib then 300 would be reasonable, but for a plain barrel maybe 200-250. Personally I like a vent rib on my guns.

250 - 300 sounds about right especially if it is in really good shape. I've had one for years that my father had for years before that and I love it. Mine is a modified choke - 2/3/4". I just had another barrel shortened, reamed and threaded and now with an extra full choke I was going see if I could chase a coyote or two with it (I may need some luck!)
