Winchester 140/1400 12G valve cap

The 140,1400,2400 series of Winchester shotguns get a bad rap from most experts. I have a 1400 and 2400 and they have been reliable and surprisingly nice to shoot. It is a bonus that they are usually priced low. There are two 1400's in the EE now for 200.00 each. Bargain but I already have two. Keep them clean and treat them decent and they will run along time. I have read several times that the worst thing you can do to a 1400 is try to force a third shell into the mag. This will break the follower and usually cause the feed throat to fail prematurely.

Couldn't agree more. My 1400 has worked flawlessly with just very basic maintenance
