Hey guy's, just picked up some Winchester Vmax 17g Varmint HV, and Winchester 20g XTP Jhp ammo today and was wondering if anybody has any experience with this ammo and what to expect. The rifle i will be using is a Nef sportster heavy barrel single shot. Any input will greatly be appricated. Cheers

I used to think the win 20g was the pits since nothing I ever had shot it well......but I now have a savage that loves it. Try whatever you can get your hands on.
I found the hornady 17g stuff to shoot well in most rifles.

My Cooper shot the 17gr Winchester Supreme better than anything else, with no split cases, or misfires. On the other hand, there have been many complaints about the winchester17HMR loads, most notably when used in Savage rifles.

Yeah read lots of mixed opinions so I figured this is the best place to start, from first hand shooters. Thanks guys

Bought 2boxes of the 20 g jhp and out of the 100 rounds had 15 split cases and the crappiest grouping I've ever got with my hmr switched back to my federal ammo and not one issue and super tight groups at 100 yds

Good luck to you! It worked poorly in my CZ. I didn't have any split cases or anything- just shot very poorly. As you have seen these things come down to the individual rifle- some shoot it ok.
