Winchester 1873 tang sight help

I picked up an 1873 a while ago and I'd like to mount a tang sight on it. I'd like to find an original/ period correct one for it. The problem is I don't know what I'm looking for and my google skills aren't up to the challenge today.

Can anyone tell me what tang sight I should be looking for? The serial # is 129### which puts it around 1883.

Look up both the Marble's and Lyman tang sights on the Buffalo Arms site. You can also google pics of original '73s with tang sights.

Kirk, your sight is a Lyman no. 1, second variation, code should be W for the Model 73.

Thanks, Road King. I have it sighted in perfectly for windage and didn't want to take it off to see. That other sight on eBay is the most desirable original Model 1873 sight (for others that might be wondering). The condition on that one is amazing.

Depending on the year the rifle was manufactured the Lyman or Marbles tang sight may not have been available to have been supplied by Winchester. One of the reasons the 62B sight is so desirable.
