Hello I might be lookin to buy a Browning 1886 without the tang safety in the future. I did hear that those models are considerably rare and go for a good amount of money. Would anyone be able to enlighten me on how much these Browning models cost and your experience with them?.

The Browning 1886 copies are among the best reproductions of the 1886 out there. The rifle version is a bit heavy for some to carry all day though I prefer it over the carbine but that is just personal preference. As far as cost goes I suspect one in very nice condition close to the 2grand mark. You have a better chance finding one of the high grade versions in unfired condition but the price will be considerably more

I would prefer just the standard version or carbine. The high grades are gonna cost alot more than 2 grand i think.

Why not buy an original? Definitely no tang safety there. There's an old original in 45-70 on ####### for $2K. Otherwise you're likely stuck to the tang safety models.

Uberti makes a very nice reproduction/replica of the 1886 that does not come with a tang safety.

Uberti's Model 1886 replicas are designed as high quality authentic reproductions, meaning they generally lack modern safeties like cross-bolt or tang safeties found on newer guns, relying instead on the hammer position and trigger discipline for safe handling.

They usually sell for about $1600 on the secondhand market for a nice example and around $2400 new, or that was how much a friend paid for his new one about 4 years ago.

I’m not sure if they’re necessarily rare, but they don’t come for sale often. As someone previously mentioned Uberti makes a damn fine Winchester. Say what you will about Miroku production, I do not want any extra bits added to my 140 year old design, thanks.
