Hi;

looking for someone who can make (basically a reproduction) a Winchester 1892 carbine barrel in .32-20

Also looking at an Winchester 1894 (c.1919) action I have here that I was thinking on customizing with an octagonal carbine barrel - it is/was in .30-30 just wondering what my calibre options are for something a little lighter shooting. (i.e. more fun)

AND another (really nice action!!) Winchester 1894 (c. 1902) in .32WCF but has bore issues.... wondering if I decided to rebarrel that what the calibre options would be taking into consideration the lifter/follower

Highest priority is the 1892 barrel though!!

Thanks.

Your second 94 action won't be 32wcf (92 cartidge) but could be 32ws which is just a necked up 30-30. You could go 25-35 or 219 zipper for a lighter recoiling cartridge

.32 Winchester Special .... "yes" it is ... :) not sure where wcf came from ....

The cost of making a replacement '92 barrel might bring tears to your eyes, if you have to pay a 'smith commercial rate to machine and fit a new blank.
Contour, thread, chamber, make cuts for sights, magazine tube, polish, finish, etc.

Same with the '94 with an octagonal barrel. And you'll need the forend, etc.

The last one could be rebored to .38-55. This might be cost effective.

$525 to get one from USA - before shipping and duty... (call it $650) ~ when you don't have one .... no different than a custom barrel really- I just need someone who knows /has cut the profile before :p

I may do this myself (green mountain) just looking for calibre/twist rate/length options - not really sure if this is even going ahead ~ but it is kind of the optimal DIY project for myself :)
(I think we both know I am perfectly capable of cobbling a custom fore end together ;) )

This was suggested in a PM - though there is a bulge in the barrel, not really 100% sure I will do anything with this one. Again though - really nice action, really rough wood & barrel.

I'll probably shoot it first to get a real indication of the barrel .... now to find some .32WS - my wallet hurts already :(
