Winchester 1892 Carbine

Not sure about the front sights I've never messed with the one on my 86 jap but you will have a problem adding a tang sight the traditional way you are probably familiar with. The miroku's all have the new sliding tang safety that has to be re-moved for a tang sight to sit on the wrist. If you want the traditional 2 screw secure mount you are used to you will have to build a "blank" that attaches to the tang and is drilled to accept a screw. Or if you aren't going to carry the gun in the bush or bang it around while in use you can just single point mount your sight with the tang bolt, I have used mine this way and recoil wont shake it loose and if treated nice it will suffice. Either way you will have to remove the safety, about a 10 minute job.

I haven't checked, but doesn't Marbles make a tang sight for the tang safety 1892's? I know they did for the Miroku 1886's. I had one of those for a while, and had a Marbles tang sight on it. I didn't end up drilling and tapping for the second screw and it seemed to say tight, but I probably should have.

It is too bad about the changes from the original design. But I would definitely consider a new 1892 if I could put a Marbles tang and a Lyman 17 front sight on.

Chris.

Well that is quite the response! I appreciate everyone's feedback, from what I can gather the Miroku rifles are worth the money. I will be pulling the trigger on a Winchester and feeding my inner cowboy!

I just saw the recent Winchester catalogue.

It listed 1866 and 1873 Winchesters in .37/.357, .44-40 and .45 Colt in rifle and carbine forms at about $1.300.00 each.

It also listed the 1886 Winchester.

I have a twin pair of miroku 92 in 44 mag short rifle config.
They have rebounding hammers and tang safeties but oh well, they are amazing guns. Hundreds of rounds of 44 mag, no problems except recoil benched = hell.

Looks like P&D has .357 in stock
