I bought an 1894 Winchester circa 1920 in 30-30 at auction. It refuses to feed cartridges. They jam at the cartridge guides.
My suspicion is that the rifle was re-barreled at some time from 38-55 or the like.
So, the question is: are cartidge guides specific to caliber?
If so, where can I locate the correct type?
Will post 64 parts work?

Thanks

I don't know for certain if the guides differ but the 38-55, 32 WCF and 30-30 are very similar in dimensions so I don't think that should be an issue. The guides use an external screw vs. an internal screw to hold them on so post-64 parts are not drop-in replacements. Check the carrier for free movement under finger pressure and watch to see if it snaps between the "down" and "up" positions. As Frank says, compare the carrier to another model 94 if you can. Also, can you say exactly how far the cartridge advances before it jams (any pictures?).
