I'm almost willing to bet someone had a side plate for a scope mount on the left side
receiver. That rear top hole on left side looks suspicious. Looks like faint wear marks near the rear hole as well.
?????????

That rear top hole is not original. I'm also willing to bet a side mount for a scope. You might have better luck selling if you at least stuck a rear sight (even if not original) on it. Any gunsmith should have an old sight and elevator in his junk drawer. At least then it would be useable. In your pics in your add the top of the bolt looks silver colored. Is that how it is or just reflection? It should be blued.

Sorry Offgrid, but my opinion is that is not much more than a parts gun or hunting gun.
It's got the wrong Buttstock for a SRC, I'm sure there's something wrong with the mag tube, there's to much diff in length between the barrel & mag to be original, it's been reblued, the carbine ladder rear site & SR is missing.

Worth $250 at the highest IMHO.

I just saw it listed for $575.:eek::rolleyes:

Thanks for the info.

No one has mentioned the end of the barrel being threaded. I guess it's supposed to be.

Top of bolt is silver. The rear site I can dig up. So far no ring. I will lower the price to $450.

Hard to see the threads on the end of the barrel as you just mentioned.
It looks wrong and now I know why.
No, the barrel is not threaded from factory, at least not that end.
Poor old girl has had some bad dudu tossed at her.

Nice rifle!

Does the Cody museum look at documentation for all winchesters or just the Buffalo Bill Cody rifles?

BTW, guess who I was named after? Grandparents seen the travelling show ages ago.

Looks like the end of the barrel has an interrupted thread for some kind of attachment, maybe a silencer? Although they are largely ineffective used with rounds that are not subsonic. Personally I think your price on the EE is a little on the high side but who knows, someone may beat your door down to buy it.

It would sure be curious what this gal had to say if she could say it?
First time I have ever seen a 94 with a threaded barrel end.
Varmit control with something to reduce noise?
A week or so ago I had an old 94 handed to me for a look.
The darn thing was a cutey pie. Lots of gunsmithing by a pro.
All nicely restored and the barrel was upped to a 30-30 AI.
Who ever did the work was a master.
Ooops, sorry, didn't mean to hi jack.

After seeing the interupted thread on the end, it made me think of this brochure I came across recently for the original Maxim Silencer... The time period is roughly correct and the threads look pretty darn close from the picture.... If you scroll down through the brochure you will see the actual thread size and pitch that Maxim used....

Muzzle is threaded directly onto the barrel. No adapter. I removed the front and had a look.

I still think it makes for a nice rifle for hunting. I already have one though.

Took it out yesterday and it fires great still. The barrel cleaned up nicer than I thought after as well.

It's down to $300 on the EE for the next week and then its going back in the safe to get a once over as a backup pig gun. It's worth more to me as a working firearm than that and I found the lynman peep site it was drilled for and a NOS saddle ring. Now to find a new stock and that silencer ;).
