I have a winchester 1894 takedown,barrel twists off the receiver. Looking for some info on it. Has half octogon barrel serial number of 109###. Were many of them made in this configuration? . Stamped 30 WCF . Its a handmedown. My grandfather picked it up back in the 30's for a sack of potatoes, of all things.

I had an elderly client in my office today, telling me he sold one of those about a year ago. His was also a hand me down from his father and since none of his kids or grand kids wnated it he sold it for $700.00 the buyer was so impressed with the gun that he gave him an extra $100.

Take downs that are that early circa 1897, if in great shape are a premium. especially if they have any other "special" features, which a 1/2 round barrel is one feature..
 
i have one in a 30wcf ,, 24 inch barrel , i shoot cast bullets with it regularly, mine also dates pre 1900, it does show abit of wear, but still is at least 70 percent , i called the bill cody museum and got a document showing where it was shipped and date made , i like mine and we certainly get you a sack of spuds if you want to part with yours, i value mine about $1500 canadian ,,wade ,
