winchester 1894

my buddy 3 beavers has a 1894 in 38-55 from 1899. and was wondering about a period corect scope for it that does not require any alterations
to the firearm

The only maker of period scopes that I am aware of is Montana Vintage Arms (MVA). I have never seen one mounted on a lever gun but I'm sure its possible. These scopes and mounts aren't at all cheap but they are of high quality. They mount using the existing sight dovetails. I am unsure how a top eject '94 would be with the scope mounted on top, ejection might be difficult.

Why not go with a tang sight?
