So upon fondling my miroku win 1895 today(405 cal), I noticed rear stock was a bit loose. No big deal, I will snug it up. Looking closer, its cracked at the tang, quite bad, top and bottom. Split would be a better description than cracked. I can get a replacement from Numerich(expensive), but my question is a bad split at the tang reparable? Sure I could glue it but if its likely to split again I will just replace it. Any advice is appreciated. I will try to post a few pics.
Thanks,

A good two part epoxy ( Brownells Accra glass gel for example). Wicked into the crack it should hold well. The stock could benefit from a bedding. The bedding from the factory may not have been right causing the split to occur.

Ok thanks.
I was wondering about bedding it. Rifle has not been shot very many times, I was quite surprised to see the crack.

Sometimes the tang of a lever gun if not properly fitted will act like a splitting axe under recoil. I imagine the .405 has some recoil. The in-letted head of the stock my show shiny or other obvious bearing marks from the tangs and frame these will need to be addresses if they exist, by bedding.

Epoxy and a brass pin. Good as new. Wood stocks crack. Just like anything else that breaks, fix it and move on. I would relieve a tiny bit of wood behind the tang though when you fix it - that's usually why they crack there.

So, upon the seeming unavailability of acraglas, I have dropped the rifle off with a gunsmith to be fixed properly. Likely better than me possibly making a mess, and in all honesty the price quoted was not much different than an acraglas kit, if one was in stock somewhere....

Update:
Got a phone call last week that the rifle was ready for pickup, and just got to Regina today to get it. It looks amazing, the gunsmith had to refinish after repairing and it honestly looks like there was a wood upgrade, plus you absolutely can not tell where the cracks were!

Excellent work TnT Gunworks!
