I am going to a gun show tomorrow and I would like to know what would be a fair price for an 1895 Saddle ring carbine in 303 British.
The barrel is excellent, the stock has only a few light scratches, the receiver is good, but the blueing is almost gone, there is only a few rust spots.

Rust kills the gun...no blueing and not a popular caliber...I personally would not give $200. Resale is next to impossible ...and what is the date of manufacture approx.? If it has been rebarrelled..it is a $100 shooter. This is my opinion but many know much more than I .
 
The 1895 carbine should have wood on the top of the barrel hand guard approx 1/2 way down the barrel and a front barrel band and an adjustable rear sight on the barrel . flaydermans book lists the price at $700.00 for very good to $2250.00 for excellent . if anything is missing different sights etc. the wood changed a long rifle cut down to to carbine length etc . sounds like yours is below very good if it is only fair probably less than 400.00 with collectibles condition is everything if it has been messed with it ain't worth very much just what you are willing to pay for one just to shoot . so see if you can't find a book on values and look it up at the show.

There were 2 1895 SRC in 303 British today. 1 was Camille's so I assume the other was yours. When I saw it you were asking $2000, is that correct

It's correct, but yesterday I tallk with Camille who had a nicer one than mine and was asking 2250,- so I fix the price to 2000.-.
Now I will adjust the price to something around 1500.- and see.

Sounds to me like your about $1400. too high one a 95 SRC in that kinda shape.

My prediction is you get to keep it :D

We would be able to give you a more objective assessment of your rifle if you could post a few photos.
 
I don't know about the carbine but in BC a rifle in average condition goes for about $600 and those sold be dealers are listed around $7-800. Even though I like the guns and the caliber, they are not particularly easy to move.
