Hey Fella's, I have a buddy at work who want's to try and buy a rifled slug barrel for his Winchester 2200 12ga. From what I have searched on the net it seems that the 1200 or 120 series barrels should fit, but can anyone on here just confirm that for me. I will be putting a WTB ad out as well if it will fit his gun. Thanks...Scott

Have you been able to find any information on your 2200? I've recently purchased one and cannot find ANYTHING about that specific model number.

I have always been under that impression.

Ryan

Thanks Ryan

This is not my gun, but a buddies from work. From what I have read it is basically a 1200/120 series Winchester but they renamed it the 2200 for Canadian sales, but the guns are the same from what I have read. I also think they were built in the mid-70's but I could be totally wrong on this. I'm sure there is a Winchester guru that will chime in for us with more info- if there is anymore needed. From what I have read, I'm with Ryan with thinking the 1200/120 is the same as the 2200.

And the answer is NOT AWAYS. Since the 120 Ranger came in two different chamberings both 2 3/4 70's mid 80's and 3" there are different barrels and different magazine lengths. A 120 (which came with the 3" 28"barrel and the 2 3/4" slug barrel) and 1300 (3") chamber barrel will fit each other plus a 1200 however a 1200 barrel only fits another 1200 UNLESS it's an after market barrel made for both (Just to make it complicated).

I was at a dealer who was selling a 1400 (barrel needs the gas port) with a 1300 barrel on it and he couldn't figure out why the shotgun didn't function. Everyone makes mistakes.

Most often it's prudent to just by another shotgun for the price instead of another barrel as barrels often run about $200-$250.

Short search on the internet and I see a couple of dealers with Winchester 120,1200 in VG to EXC for $250 or less. Cheaper than a barrel by it's self and spare parts.

I just bought a slug barrel for a model 1300 and it fit my model 2200 perfectly. The chambers for both the barrel and reciever was 2 3/4 and 3".

Really good chart to give you an idea corsonsbarrels.com/winchesterbarrels.htm

1300 barrels will fit the 1200 and 120/2200. 1200 barrels fit only the 1200. 1300 Defenders accept only the 1300 Defender barrel.

Thanks for the further info Ten Ring and Applefarmer. I have not personally seen the gun myself I was just told that it was a 2200 and see what info I could gather on it, to obtain a slug barrel for it. So from what I have gathered here so far, it looks like a 1300 slug barrel should fit the 2200 that he has. Correct?? Thanks for helping me out so far fella's:cheers:

Here I am going through my manuals and I find I made a mistake above. The 1200 is the 2200 but they were both made originally in 2 3/4" later in 3".

The Ranger 120 is the 1300, both were only made in 3"

The Winchester Defender 1300 3" due to longer magazine tube only accepts 1300 Defender barrels.

Thanks for the update Applefarmer, I will pass along the info. He told me today he may just buy a dedicated slug gun instead of trying to find a barrel. Oh well, at least I learned some info about the Winchester shotguns. Thanks again for your info AF :)

Well I fully recommend the 1300 rifled 12ga XTR should you find one. I've taken a few deer at 200 yrds with it one shot using 3" Federal slugs. Oh, 3" federal slugs at 5ft doesn't leave 30lbs of meat. Have fun.

The models 120, 1200, 1300, and 2200 sporting barrels are interchangeable. Some defender barrels only work on defender models because of magazine lengths. I am using a model 2200 barrel on my model 1200.
