Hi there,

Last weekend, my son and I shot some 2 3/4 inch slugs with my Win. 2200. When we shot it, I just hand loaded the shells one at a time. Upon firing, the receiver came open without me racking the fore-end. This happened four out of the 5 shots. The one where it stayed closed, I was holding the fore-end a lot harder to keep it shut. Was I just holding the gun wrong or is there something in need of repair?

Thanks,

KeltecFan

it i supposed to unlock after it is fired that is how they are designed, other wise you would have to push on the action release after every shot.

All of the 1200/1300/2200/120 etc. shotguns have a rotating bolt. If you shoot it one handed it will actually eject the empty shell like a semi-auto. I have 2 right now and they both do it. No worries.

Thanks for not flaming guys! I kind of thought that was the case.
I only ever shot it before with really light loads and that didn't happen.
My previous experience with shotguns was with autoloaders and break actions.

Thanks again,

That series of Winchesters are actually the fastest shooting pumps around. With the exception of the non trigger reset guns like the Winchester model 12
