Winchester 22lr semi model 77

I have one. They don't seem to have exact records for that model, but they at least tell you the total years of production and the total number produced. You can prorate your serial number to get an idea. Your's sounds like a very early one, but are you sure about the P at the start?

Here is few pics. the only number I can found is located on the stock..

These are high quality rifles. Yours looks to be in VG condition. At least $250, probably closer to 300.

If you decide to take it apart for a thorough cleaning, be very very attentive to each part and spring AND IT'S ORIENTATION. Some of those little parts can go back in either one of two ways, but the rifle will only function one way. Don't mix up the myriad springs. And many parts are little - I would highly recommend you set up a 'clean room', almost like an operating table, with a big old bed sheet, as some of those little parts come off on their own without telling you.

Other than that, great rifle.

Would that number stamped into the bottom of the pistol grip be the Winchester serial number? Seems like a funny place to put it as the stock could be changed out or sanded down at any time. Did the model 77 even have serial numbers on them?

I see it says numbering was discontinued in 1959. So if there is no other number then it was made between 1959 and 1962.
