I found one in very good shape. Only flaw is a end of muzzle has some of the finish a bit worn because it was wearing a bloop tube. The recessed crown is perfect though. It wears a Kenyon trigger and came with butt hook, palm rest, Lyman diopter and aperture system and all the trimming.
Since the pics were taken, I disassembled, cleaned thoroughly, dried and oiled all. It just needs mounts and scope and will be ready to add to my collection of bench rimfires.

Gilbert, that's a very nice find. The Winchester M52 was, of course, the top of the pack of rimfire rifles at one time, and would still rank right up there with top-end modern designs. A couple of questions: (a) Does it have the forend adjustment screw system that some of the 52s had? and (b) Does it have the Micro-motion trigger. Being an "E" model, it is likely the most advanced of the 52 series.

No the E Internationals don't have the forend adjustment screws. They are the latest evolutions of the 52's with fully floated barrels. The action is fully bedded. About the trigger system. One of the options available on E Internationals was the famous Karl Kenyon trigger. Mine has this Kenyon trigger. I have not shot it yet, but have fired a few snap caps and can tell you that it is in the same realm than the trigger system on my Anschutz 54.30. Of course: adjustable but I have not played with it yet.

Thanks Glenn and M12man. Yes it really is a rare bird. i am thinking about a scope for it now. One of my rifles has a Nightforce 42X44 fixed and I love it. I also have other rifles with Weaver T36 and it does the job real well for less $$. This time, maybe a SIII 8X32X56

Well a Kenyon trigger is just that much better than the Winchester Micro-motion. So it's probably as good as, or possibly better than, the 5018 trigger in your 54.30.
 
A true beauty. The ones I've seen and fired have been in much worse shape (but shot fantastic). That is truly a gem and the Kenyon trigger is just icing on the cake. Seriously though, It has to have a an external adjustment Unertl scope. And a really well worn single point leather sling so you can shoot it prone with an old canvas shooting jacket. Oh and some nice vintage iron sights.
 
Yes Heddok, I also thought about a vintage Unertl scope. I have to admit that though they look very good on theses classic rifles, I find it easier to shoot with a modern scope. and the 52 E's receivers are drilled and tapped.

E internationals are sort of a rare bird.

That one has an interesting stock.
The gun was designed as a position competition model- standing, kneeling, prone etc. and was not really a "bench" design.
There is an E for sale currently in the gun library at Cabela's in Winnipeg. Got a good laugh out of the "benchrest" description of a home modified straight "E" prone stock.

Staff there still continue to dig holes for themselves...

The Weaver K-8 on it is very interesting though...
