Winchester 555~$45 at Cabela's. Going rate?

Yeah I'm pretty sure that's about the going rate. I usually try to buy the federal bulk packs. All 3 of my 22s seem to like them. Bought a box at crappy tire a month or so ago for around $34. In the other day and seen they were up to $39.

the 222/333/555 ammo is not the greatest for accuracy, but it does pretty well most of the time in my gopher gun. Worst thing about it is the regular, group ruining flyers and it doesn't feed well in some semi autos. OTOH, it has a big hollow point, expands rapidly and is very effective on gophers.... much more so than federal Blue box or dynapoints.

Hey HTH~yep, I was aware it's all the same ammo. I had the same box of 333 for more than a few years, never had a gun that like them worth a damn until I got my 452. Not stellar, but pretty decent to be honest. Then my BRNO proved to like them as well, so finally...a bulk-pack ammo I didn't mind buying. Provided nobody was looking. :) I don't do allot of "plinking" anyway so buying 555 rounds may/may not have been a temptation even if the price seemed fair, so I passed.

As for Canadian Tire~don't get me started. lol They just built a brand, spanking new one (big too) about 1km from my house, and the ammo case is as dull, dusty and poorly stocked as it was in the old store. Always been the case in all the local stores here. Never really bothered me much until I attended a wedding in Belleville a couple of years back, and got out east a little early. Decided to stop into the Canadian Tire store and I was both amazed, and ticked-off at the same time. Just a great selection of guns...a VERY impressive selection of ammunition, and a huge chunk of real estate dedicated TO ammo. I did a little pre-wedding shopping!

The only good thing I can say about the 333/555 ammo is that it meets or beats it's advertised velocity in the half dozen .22s I have used and is surprisingly consistent. I can't say that for a lot of other more expensive ammo. $45 is ridiculous though. You can buy 500 mini mags for $50 these days.

These are my preference also, but everyone around home is sold out lately.
