Fired around 450 rounds today, Sig Mosquito Sport and Mossberg Tactical.
Winchester 555 packs 1280FPS, 36 Gr.
Federal 525 pack 1260FPS, 36 Gr.
Blazer 525 pack, 1230FPS, 40 grain Round Nose
Winchester ammo has larger nose cavity, thus squaring off the nose profile as compared to the smaller cavity size of the Federal 525 round packs.
FTF's only with the Winchesters in both guns. The reliability of the Federals and the Blazers were 100%.
Accuracy was comparable with all three, Blazers looked to be a little more smokey.
Sig was new and sure do like it. Tried a browning buckmark, wow, nice trigger! Nice gun!

I really like that large hollow point that the Winchester bulk packs have. The Federal Bulk packs hollow point is really minuscule. Both have feed equally well. Also got some Rem bulk packs and they have a normal hollow point kinda between the large Winchester and minuscule Federal size.

Havent done a real test as to how many FTF each batch has but some have claimed that the Winchester offerings are worst.

I would be willing to trade off the odd FTF if the rest of the time I get more devastating results on gophers.

Have been using Winchester 333s and 555s for a few years( 3 cases last summer alone) and never had any problem. They are clean and in my gathering of .22s, both semi and bolts....the most accurate and cost effective, and they cycle thru them all. Some guns do not like them but they proved to be favorable to mine. I use really nothing else, as they hit very hard on gophers..

I have tested the Remington regiment and the Federal...both had many FTFs and the former was absolutely the dirtiest I have fired, and had the worst record of FTFs . The federal 525s have a miniscule dimple that minics the hollow point but does not expand like the Winchesters do.

I've also noticed more "primer-duds" with the Federal 525's than with the Winchester 333/555's.....

Considering this :yingyang: , I've often wondered why the (pricier ! :nest: ) Federal gets more hype than the Winchester....

pretty much my experience as well. I also shoot up a lot of Rem Yellow Jackets as two of my .22's love them but I can barely see a difference in effectiveness between the two on gophers. The hollowpoint on the 555's is wicked...

Yeah- exactly my observation as well. Far fewer problems with the Win 333/555 than with the Federal 525 packs in my 10/22. Every time I've compared the two the Winchester pack has been a better experience.

Works great in my 10/22 and AR-15 with Spike's Tactical .22 conversion kit. I have a SIG 226 classic which should be arriving Tuesday and hopefully it will like the same ammo.

I have 9 rounds with faulty primers from the same Winchester brick
Yeah, my last Winchester brick

Winchester instructed me to have them sent to the Canadian dealer for verification but shipping is prohibitive.

I've seen 3 of those in about 4000 rds

I don't write off a round, until it has at least 3 primer dents in it, from at least 2 different guns. Happens VERY rarely. If I gave up after one, most common brands would be fairly equal IMHO anyways.

In my old savage I found the winchesters to be innacurate and prone to FTF. The federals and Blazers on the other hand have never given me a FTF, and shoot accurately. Now That I have moved on to other .22's perhaps its time I tried out winchester again.
