Just picked up this nice condition Winchester 62a.This gun was made in 1947 and has all the features of a 62a with the exception of the barrel just being stamped win 62 .I ve read this was common with guns made just after the war using left over parts to finish off the newer model.The condition of the gun is real nice with a pristine bore and lots of original bluing only showing a little wear on the reciever from carrying.Can t wait to take her out for a test run
 
These are great rifles. A real classic.
I have a 61 that a friend gave me. Light, handy, shoots really well.
 
Yes John Browning designed it.I think I read some years ago that the gun was originally designed to be a centerfire but a Winchester wanted a new rimfire so that idea was scrapped.Pump 22s were the speed demons of the 22s when they first came out and were extremely popular but they lost out when good semiautos came
