Some may have noticed, the Winchester site showed a Featherweight being offered in .300 H+H for 2014,but just a week prior to the Shot Show....it vanished! There was some chatter on U.S. sites (Nosler),about it, was it an error or a were they "testing the waters"? Anyway I called Winchester(800-333-3288) and they told me it was an error, BUT the marketing people were now well aware of the interest so maybe down the road.
So for all of us who love this great cartridge and especially in a model 70, then let Winchester hear you . Make mine a Featherweight/Super-Grade please.
Cheers
Geoff

If they do end up bringing one out in a Super Grade I will add one to my collection. Shouldn't be a big deal for them to offer the 300 H&H chambering.

Thats a big YUP! I would be adding one too. It would be nice in the Alskan as well, but than I'd just be torn between an Alaskan or a Supergrade.............Would probably loose sleep over it......I am calling right now!

I told the people at Winchester to create a poll system on their website, with it offering configurations of the model 70 and calibers so it would be easy for people to just click on what they want to see produced, etc.

Maybe we could create a similar one on here?....I don't know how to start one, maybe somebody else could?

The new M70's are great guns and the paper I have punched with my two just prove how good of shooters they really are too.

Similarly to the Remington 700 Classics . . . how many of those caliber choices did the "Big Green" get stuck with?
300 H & H was one of those Classics just like it would be in a Winchester Model 70.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if they came out with a .300 H&H, they'd have to build a true Magnum action as well. Doesn't sound likely. One of the reasons they came up with the Win. Mag series. That and a Featherweight as well ?

They could just used he same magazine box they use on the .375H&H

If that cartridge was offered a few years ago, I would have bought one in an FN supergrade instead of my 30-06. Now listen to this, I bought a BSS of a guy a bunch of years back, before I was privy to the 300 h&H and pre 64 model 70's. He had a 1954 Model 70 Supergrade in 300 H&H unfired and wanted 2200 for it, it was from an estate sale.. I had it in my freaking hands. A few months later, after a lot of research, I called him but it had been sold a few days earlier for 1800. Will never make that mistake again, but I'll likely never have the chance again........I have lost sleep over that deal.

The long action M70s can accomodate full length H&H, they use a different mag box and the ejector is moved.

Actually they just don't put the block in the mag box and cut back the bolt stop and ejector, that's all I did initially for my 340 Wby from 338, then I wanted it longer and that is a fair bit more work. But for a SAAMI COAL on the 300 H&H that is all that's required.

Asked at shot show, that was a web error. No plans for an h&h in the near future. Too bad I really wanted a fwt to match my 264fwt.
You really have to wonder about it being a "simple error". Around the same time (few weeks back), I saw the 6.5X55 listed under Featherweight and then disappear (I swear I'm not seeing things).
