I guy at work came to us and asked if we could find some .307 win for him for a hunting trip he has coming up with his dad back to his native nfld, he said his father got this lever action winchester in .307 win and is running low on bullet and he can't find any anywhere on the island. I had never heard of that chambering before and researched it, i guess they only made a handfull and they where Win 94 AE and it never took off? Said to be pretty much like a rimmed .308 win. Do these have any collector value since they seem to be so rare? And where could he find a box or two of factory ammo? Kinda guy that 2 boxes will last a good ten years id say.

I just gave some to a good buddy of mine. I'm told it's still commercially made, so it's just a matter of digging around. Check out some of the site sponsors in the header and I'll do a little digging here in Toronto.

Doesnt really have any special collector as far as Im aware. Probably demands a bit more than a similar rifle in 30-30, but isnt some super rare priceless rifle. If it was in excellent shape Id say 400-425 ish. Ammo for it isnt easy to find, but most gun shops should have it ( wouldnt count on CT or Wal mart). The local hunting/outdoor adventure store where I live usually keeps several boxes in stock at all times. Youll probably be pretty restricted to ammo choice though. 180 grain Winchester Power Point is about the only factory loading I know of.

If you have brass, then reloading is an option where the sky is pretty much the limit.

Have to use a 308 die and a 30-30 base. The casing is a little thick so need to work up a bit as a max 308 load will be too hot (in some instances - will not be able to squeeze the powder into the casing without compressing) but any 308 bullet used in tubes will be fine. Again, if you have the brass.

Good info guy's thanks. I dont think reloading will be an option on this. Its a friends old man's gun back in nfld and I know he dosent reload, I do, but I'm a little far to help him out. I'll tell him we will have a look around localy and see what we can do. If anybody find some and want to PM me about details it would be appreciated also! thanks!
