I didnt hesitate to take my Marlin apart but my 99c is in such nice shape it is unlikely to happen for some time anyways. It looks much more complicated too but someone should have disassembly instructions considering how many sites talk about them.
Winchester 94 and the 30-30??

It really isn't that much more difficult. If the 336 is a 2 on a 1-10 scale, the 99 is about a 4. A bit tougher but no biggie. Just take you time and have lots of baggies around for the bits, and take notes.
Having said that I WOULD NOT take apart the rotary magazine assembly. I've heard a lot of horror stories on that item.
I also have yet to strip the bolt down, so I may up my rating after that.

Savage-man take some of the prior advise and get a good rear peep sight, either Williams or Lyman, then replace that big brass bead with a Williams "Fire Site" it's at least a full third smaller than the factory bead.
Get decent ammo and practice practice practice....
The last deer I shot on 22 November 2005, was with my deceased father's Winchester M94 30-30
Carbine. (circa 1956) At 260 yards, offhand (no wind) yes, I swear 260 yards. He was the biggest whitetail buck I have harvested in my life, using the old style Silvertip 150 grain factory rounds.
One shot, and he dropped like a liberal on election day!
He was standing still and 3/4's facing me, my rifle had a high sight in.
(+3"@100 yards)
Aimed for his white throat patch, bullet struck in centre of chest.
Before the Alberta big game season opened up, there was many a day at the range for me, banging the metal gong offhand at 200 yards for practice.
I still have the expanded copper jacket around somewhere, it weighs 77 grains, lead core, all gone....

But the 38-55 is so much cooler than the plain ol' tirdy tirdy. I have come so close to picking one up a couple of times. Dies and brass are still available and it would be so much fun to shoot especially when someone asks "Well what the Hell is that?" Besides already got the 30-30 like nearly everyone else...yawn.

If you don't plan on hunting moose/elk every fall or even every other fall forget the 30/06 and just hunt/shoot more with your dirty thirty.

I cant say im all that crazy about the tang style peep sights, I really do not like the looks of them at all. I do however like the look of the Williams Foolproof receiver sight, I have a couple questions about installation.
How easy is it to install onto a 94 that is allready drilled and tapped?? It there any minor adjustments that need to be made, or is it as simple as sqrewing it on and replacing the front sight, then bore sighting it and your good to go?? Is it a do it yourself job or do I need a gunsmith for this?? DOes it come with any instructions?? Thanks

It should just be a case of screwing it on the Winchester 94. What kind of front sight do you have on the 94 now? If it is a small bead it may do, if it is high enough.
I wouldn't try to bore sight the 94. Just put up a target at 25 yards, aim and hold very careful and fire one shot. That should tell you if you are in the ball park and if the front sight is high enough, with the new aperature turned fully down, that is.
If it will sight in, just decide if that is the front sight you want. For hunting, at least, I prefer a post front sight. You could consider filing down your front bead sight to make it a post. With a post you sight it to hit right on the top of the post.

Amazing that there has been no mention of the fact that his 1975 model 94 is top eject, not angle eject.
The rifle is new enough to have avoided the ugly post 64 years, (ended in 1971) and should be a quality firearm.
I have taken moose with my 94, and many, many deer here in Ontario. It's not a farm country long range rifle, but if you hunt the timber, it will serve you well.
As to tearing it down, there are many rifles out there that have never been torn down from new. Depends on the way the rifle is used. You can get pretty creative about ways to clean without disassembly.

I tore mine down one time, every part came out, got soaked, and cleaned, and I ment to put it all back together the next day...... Well 3 weeks later I had a puzzle.
So I took the other 30-30 I had and started dissasembling it to see where everything went. No problems putting them back together.

So questions for the Williams Foolproof sight owners, where did you buy yours from for the Win 94?? Do they come in the package with the front fiber optic fire sights too, or do you have to buy them seperate?? How many diff heights of front sight do they have for them, which one will I need for a standard 1975 Win 94 30-30 traditional?? Thanks

Congrats on finding a great little gun for hunting. I use a hundred year plus old Winchester 30-30 rifle ( 26" barrel) and it has put down what it was required to . I found the carbines a little light for handling the recoil but the weight is nicer to carry. For stand hunting in bush, you could not go wrong. Even scopes can be installed if necessary , depending on your eyesight.

There are a number of sight heights available. The one that came with your rifle is probably the right height for the Williams. Take it with you to the gun shop you get the sight from, and they will be sure to get you the right one.
I used the original front sight with my Williams FP for many years.
