Hello everyone im pretty new, i introduced myself last night.

I bought my first gun last night after waiting forever to get my PAL, I bought a 1967 (serial# 3012653) Winchester model 94 "classic" with a 26" octagonal barrel and gold loading plate. it is in almost mint condition, 2 small nicks on the stock. Gun has either never been fired, or fired very few times. (paint was still on the lever where it pivots)

I paid 600 for the gun, with a hard case, a box of bullets, a bore snake, a bottle of #9 solvent and a trigger lock, + taxes I paid $724 after all was said and done.

Right on. Great rifles. Enjoy your Winchester. Consider getting into reloading and casting your own bullets.
 
Welcome to the M94 Club! You really don't mean "paint", right? Blueing?

If you really want to get into M94's - buy a copy of Sam Fadala's book "Winchester's .30-30, Model 94".

haha I didnt think the lever itself was blued, thought that was just the barrel. its black, and a different finish than the barrel. but either way lol yes!

Does anyone know what it might be worth? A ballpark?

Did I post this in the wrong forum, would the general gun forum have been the right spot?
 
This is a good spot to post... Lots of 94 fans here... You made good buy, and can make a little money if you decide to sell, but guns (especially 94's) are made for shooting... So go shoot it. Have fun and welcome to the Nut Show.

Congrats, nice rifle for your first one. I don't think that there are too many of this model around, it was made for 3 years only and they produced less than 50,000, rifles and carbine combined. If I remember they made this model to celebrate their 3,000,000th Win 94.
The wood is really nice too......

The camera does not do the wood justice, it also could use some oil or wax or some sort of polishing which I am still researching how to properly take care of it :)

I shot it for it's first time today, at 75 yards my first 6 were 4 bullseyes and 2 10 ranges, 2 of the bullseyes were overlapping by 50%! It shot beautifully!

Care to elaborate? A lot of people say they are far superior to cleaning with rods and pads.
 
Beautiful rifle! Love those octagon barrels. Are you going to reload for it? With that 26" barrel you can get some really decent velocities with H335 and a 150 gr bullet - over 2600 fps.

It's something im looking into, im not sure if ill go shooting often enough to make it worth it! But ive already started saving my brass just in case! I really like my gun, im glad it has the long barrel too!
 
You got a great deal on that gun! an octagon saddle ring has always been a dream of mine.....never see them....some say they don't exist! Hang on to that sucker!....unless of course ya want to give it to me! :)
 
you can wash the bore snake you know, it's just fabric like a dish cloth. Also for 15$ you could replace it twice a year and not even think about it. Just my limited opinion on the matter i havnt done much looking into it yet! I also have a standard rod and pad cleaning kit I can use from my dad.

My Canadian Centennial saddle ring octagon barrel is in the EE right now... just sayin lol short barrel tho... end hijack
