I have a line on one of these, made in 1904, very good condition, half hex/half round, full magazine.

I don't have pics right now but would like to know what a safe offer would be.

The wood is defintely original and the blueing does show a bit of age but it's so good I thought it might have been refinnished a while back but the more i look the more i'm convinced it's original.

Post pics but .25/35 rifles are fairly scarce in comparison to .30WCF chambering. Also the half round barrel is a special order item and they were usually ordered with a half magazine as well. Half round barrels and full magazines are fairly scarce therefore. If it is in unmolested condition with a lot of finish remaining I would not hesitate to pay $1500 for it personally.

1/2 oct 1/2 round with a full magazine tube is so rare as to make one think it most likely has been rebarreled with a takeoff barrel. My guess would be it was originally a full oct and got a 25-35 take off installed some where along the way. Just guessing of coarse, still waiting for photos !!!!!

mrgoat can attest that I know a little about Winchester lever guns of old.

Not that rare, I've owned one and seen four in my area, three of them were below S/N 353999 and all of them lettered. If a half round barrel was ordered from Winchester back then it was automatically supplied with a half mag unless the customer specified otherwise. At least that seems to be the concensus among collectors that I know.

Well there you go, tell him "Mike Webb's" info then take the owner downtown to the Empire Hotel and let the old strippers and Molson's Ex take there toll on him. He may have a change of heart. If nothing else it will be an interesting afternoon.
We used to lay over in Timmins years ago on the way to James Bay to goose hunt, one of the lay over locations was the Empire Hotel. Rumor was, that old strippers went there to die. I would not disagree with that theory.

Yes c-fbmi has a couple old Winchesters and keeps abreast on there finer points. The herd most likely has grown even more since the last time I seen it. He lovingly cleans them all every Sunday right after going to church!!
