Well after reading mlebler's post on his 94, I had to go and pull out my Canadian Centennial Commemorative since it has been a while since I really took a moment to appreciate it. It was given to me by my fathers uncle who bought it new in 67 and he had fired not even a handfull through it... I have since fired about half a box out of it.

So long story short, I noticed a small marking on the top of the barrel, it has the 26" octagon barrel, and wouldn't you know it, it has that same mark stamped into it as mlebler's. I assume that all the Centennial's had this on them as a tribute to the history of Canada, but sure got me interested in finding out more. Doesn't seem to be a whole lot of different information on the web.

I would guess that the gun you have was to commemmorate the 25th year of the forming of the PCMR in 1942. The guns they were issued were carbines model 94 and model 64s.Along with these were Enfield P1917 30-06, lee enfield 303 and some Marlin 30-30s.

This is one is for sure the Canadian Centennial Commemorative, has it on the barrel and on the steel coming down from the receiver into the stock with the dates (1867-1967).

Thanks for the info, but not looking for a value on the rifle. I know in general they are a dime a dozen most of the commemoratives, but this one's worth more to me than anyone can pay. Was more curious to find out about the reason for the marking on the gun, can't seem to find any info on it other than markings on the original rifles from the 40's.
