I just purchased win 9422 xtr m 22 magnum and was wondering where I could get a rear sight ?
Also would a standard model 94 front sight hood fit?
And also, I’ve read that 22 LR is a no go?

I paid $950 all in, seems good.
Gun is in really nice condition.

Came with a fixed 4x32 Bushnell buckhorn but not sure if I’d rather go open sights.
What a good distance to zero a 22 magnum?

Nice Score and at that price I think you did well.
As mentioned WGP or maybe even Elwood Epps might be a hit or a miss.
Some of the other site sponsors too, you have some finger tapping to search those bits out.

I only mentioned EE are one of many sources at the top of the page to start with....
WGP may have something and then again they may have not.
I feel remiss in not mentioning all of the other great supporters to this web site..

I think it is the same rear sight as used on M94s. Phoning around to established gunsmithing shops should turn one up. The original open sight is OK as open sights go.
.22LRs? Don't. They will go bang. They will also expand significantly, with a pretty good chance of the case failing and leaking gas.

$950 for a nice 9422M XTR is a decent price these days. Fine rifle. A well used 9422M was my favorite rifle for hunting arctic hares.

Sounds like a good opportunity to order a Skinner peep!

Oooh, that looks cool, I’d probably need a front sight as well, I can’t see the black one very well lol.
I threw the fixed 4x buckhorn scope that came with it ,on last night.
I kinda like that as well.

A .22Magnum has the range to make a scope desirable.
You can get softpoint and hardpoint Magnum ammunition, and watch out for recent production Winchester .22WRF ammunition for less violent performance.
There are more traditional clamp-on aperture sights. Browning made them for the T-Bolt, and Williams offers them. But a higher front sight is needed.

Talley also has a rimfire aperture sight thats low profile
a rear sight for yours should be any dovetail mount type that you find, not very special or unique

.22 lr and 22 magnum have different body diameters, so yes, its a no-go

There used to be a member with a pile of Winchester sight parts.

Was it Wild Bill Hickock perhaps?

I know I got some Winchester sights from him several years ago.

Not much options for 22 mag around here , I picked up a couple of box’s of 30 g vmax
$40 a pop lol
The more I look at it the nicer it looks lol
Going to try her out Sunday

Some years ago, I had a 9422M in 22 Magnum - I paid $698.62 in Nov. 2013. Our grandson has the 9422 - bought Jul 2018 with K4-60B Scope for $850.00 - in .22 rimfire - the cartridges are not the same size - can not (or should not) fire .22 rimfire in a 22 Magnum - the chambers are different size and so are the bores.

Many will advise that any rear sight made to go into barrel dovetail likely will fit - I had read that Winchester had different "elevators" for their rear sight - depending on cartridge - not sure the sight matters, but the elevator might.
