I was given a Winchester 9422 in 22 magnum from my father. The rifle was manufactured in the early 1970s and is in fantastic condition. I have an idea of the value but would like to hear from some of you, what you think the value is.The rifle is not for sale,it will be passed on to my son.
Thanks Irish

About 25 years ago I said to my nephew when you get your gun license I’ll give you my 9422wmr. I’m still regretting that. At the time I didn’t think it would be worth much.

I remember back around 2008 or so I went to Al Simmons gun shop in Hamilton to drool. I found a sweet little 94-22 Magnum on the rack used mint condition with a laminate green stock. I fell in love with it and asked if they could hold it until I could come up with the balance in a couple days. The guy said sure and I left my name. They wanted $550 for it which was a chunk of money for me back then but I really wanted that little rifle. After calling in some debts and raiding my savings I went back to the shop and noticed right away that it was not in the same spot on the rack. And I looked up and down the wall I realized it wasn't anywhere on the rack. After speaking to the same guy who said he'd hold it I was told somebody came in and bought it from another salesperson. I was completely heartbroken when he talked me into a near mint condition model 94 in 30-30 which I scanned quickly and purchase for 495 plus tax. To add insult to injury when I got home and started looking over my new treasure that wasn't as nice as the original treasure was going to be I realized I had been screwed again. In my haste I didn't spend enough time scouring over every inch of the rifle and only then realized that it had a chip out of the toe on the stock that had been filled in not too well with wood filler and painted brown. I still have that rifle to this day and aside from that eye sore of a chip the rifle looks completely unfired and as new but every time I hear mention of a Winchester 9422 I feel my blood pressure rise and I start clenching my fists! That shop lost my business from that day forth.
