I'm hoping that someone can help me with a long time search - for ammunition (or brass) for a sweet old rifle that my Father has owned since he inherited it from his father 40 years ago.Dad will turn 93 this year and remembers when his uncle took the gun out moose hunting when he was a kid and came back with no shells left.

It hasn't been fired since! It's a beautiful old piece with some brass insets and a french walnut stock (almost like burl wood). I believe it is a model 1876, it is definitely 50 cal., and is a classic lever action, just like in the movies!

If you could help me locate some ammunition for it, I would so love to be able to give that to him and maybe even be able to fire it with him - I just know he would be so tickled!

Thanks for your input.

The 50/90 Sharps cases made by Starline can be easily made into 50/95 Win., rarest chambering of the '76 and if in good condition, worth a fair bit of money. It was considered an "EXPRESS" chambering and used quite light bullets in it's factory ammo, as light as 290 grs. Bullet dia. is approx..512", std. for the old BP .50 cals, twist was 1-60" or so and using the longer Sharps bullets would certainly wobble....IMHO

Starline may actually make the proper cases by now, not sure....

Chaparral and Jamison make it, plus you can convert the Starline.

That's one expensive toy you are playing with.

Get some brass, take your Dad shooting with it. It will be a day you remember until you give the thing to your own grandson.

And have fun!

Jamison Brass

Pics are good. I saw lots on a table at the Perth Lanark Gun show this weekend as well I think Epps has new ammo

I have a Uberti .50/95 and got ready formed brass from Jamison International earlier this year. I am attaching a link to their web site

www.jamisoninternational.com

I have heard trhat they are not shipping out of the U.S. without an export permit but its worth giving them a call.
