I recently acquired a Browning M71 348 WCF which appears to be mint inside and out. Functions as new in every regard but the hammer does not go into half #### position. When lowering it slowly it simply goes all the way down with no indication of a half ####. Does anyone have an idea what the cause would be, or a link to a good resource?

No rebounding hammer. I cannot feel any half #### either raising or lowering the hammer. It is a Browning, supposed to be identical to an original, as opposed to the recent Winchester with tang safety and rebounding hammer.

The Browning is half #### you are missing something pull the stock and look hard something is not moving . They are close but not identical to the original Winchesters. Firing pin spring is different and some Win 71 came without a trigger block and spring hence no half #### I doubt your Browning would come without a half #### feature.

Actually, I embarrassingly realized the half #### position is just significantly further forward than on my Winchester 71s. The hammer sits just almost touching the firing pin, as opposed to my Win which sits at half #### about a quarter inch clear, or the rebounding hammer on my recent Miroku Win which also has a quarter inch clearance. So it was working but looked like it was falling all the way down. So you were right, they are close but obviously slightly different mechanically.
