Winchester Centennial 66

I just picked this up this morning from a gentleman i work with. His father bought the matching set with consecutive serial numbers back in 1966 and gave the 26" rifle to the oldest son and the 20" carbine went to the youngest son. The carbine now belongs to me and he is going to put me in contact with his brother so i can try to get the set back together. This rifle has never been fired and it even came with the box and warranty cards. This rifle is a thing of beauty and hopefully i can keep the tradition alive and pass them down to my children one day.

I got one in the 26" barrel, put a set of Lyman sights on it and promptly headed for the range. On a good day I'm hitting a 12" metal plate at 300 yds with the 26" barrel.

That's not a "Carbine" version, it's a 20" "Short Rifle" model.

My Dad had one hanging over his bar from 66 until his sold his house in 97, I was only allowed to take it down once a year for cleaning, in my younger days it used to burn me that beauty was just hanging there while I was hunting with a beat up old 303 Lee Enfield. Nice gun to pass on
