I have finally taken my Win 7 mag CRF out to a range after removing the rubbery hot glue bedding material put in the stock at the factory. This rifle has never shot inside 4 inches or so at 100 yards and frustrated me no end. Then I took the action out of the stock and found what the factory laughingly called bedding material. Scraped it all out and replaced it using a Brownell's bedding kit but then didn't shoot it for over three years. Guess I was afraid it still wouldn't shoot. Well, it does. It will now put three into about 1 1/4 inch at a 100 yds, with some groups less than an inch. I will take it as a back up to my 338 next year for elk. Until now it has sort of been just a pretty decoration in my gun safe but no longer. What, besides the desire to save money, could have possessed the factory to use hot glue for bedding an otherwise great action?
