So posted on here a few weeks ago to see if anyone went to the show, and the answer seemed not many.
Firstly if you are a hardcore firearms enthusiast Cody, Wyoming is a must. I have posted pictures in the past of two of my three trips to the Buffalo Bill museum and Winchester collection there, so I skipped going there this year. Suffice to say its one of the bigger firearms collections on display.
Conveniently the Winchester Collectors have their show in Cody in July each year, and for those in Western Canada its realistically a one or two day drive away, so easily accessible. Additionally Cody is about an hour from Yellowstone National Park, an hour from the Greybull fire-fighting aviation museum, less than 2 hours from Bighorn national forest, 2.5hours to Custer's Last Stand, about 3hours to the Rosebud Battle site, less than 2 hours from Ten Sleep, 1.5 hours from Billings (which is my preferred jumping off spot), 3.5 hours to Fort Phil Kearny and the Box Wagon Battle site, 3.5 hours to Dubois and the National Military Vehicle Museum, and of course 4 hours to Jackson. So handy to a lot of interesting places in Wyoming and Montana.
The show its self is in an arena, so pretty familiar to the gunshow crowd. I have been to a lot of gunshows and it feels pretty much the same with a couple of exceptions. At noon everything stopped, and the National Anthem was sung inside the show. The other, well stuff you just dont see at Canadian shows. A colt Delta Elite caught my eye, and in truth, I never recall seeing one at a show in Canada.
I would say the show is worth considering if you are making a trip to Yellowstone/Cody/Southern Montana. It goes without saying a lot of winchesters, tons of 86/94/92s, but other odd ball ones as well, several Nickle plated Marlins there, some random tables of handguns, modern guns, parts, some knives etc. Well worth popping down to see it.
Like a lot of shows it pays to ask before taking pictures, so not a lot of photos for you, but hey, more of reason for folks to go themselves. Very friendly folks, typical of the US, and people very happy to chat about their guns and items, most of which were for sale, but a good number just for show.
