Winchester/Cooey stock

You have to clarify. Are you talking the older Winchester model 37 or are you referring to the much later model 37A. I compared my 37A to my Cooey model 84 and from all appearances they are the same as far as the buttstock goes. Now the older model Winchester 37 is probably not the same as it was not built on the Cooey model 84 platform. That was before Winchester had anything to do with Cooey. The model 37A on the other hand was put out in the 70's and is a later, cheaper version of the Cooey 84 built on the same platform.

Ok from what I can gather the Winchester 840, 370, 37a, and the Cooey 84 are all the same firearm. Is this correct?

They are pretty much the same but there are some differences. As mentioned earlier, the forearms are different and some had different attaching mechanisms to the barrel lug. That is the biggest difference as far as parts fitting . Quality wise, the 84 had a steel receiver, steel forearm spacer, steel trigger guard and walnut wood. Starting with the 840, the receivers became stamped alloy, plastic forearm spacer and trigger guard and hardwood stock.

But as far as butt stocks go I think they are identical. I don't think the OP was looking for a whole wood set.
