Pretty cool freebie I'd say. Came out of a dusty gun cabinet.

The bolt is among the missing at present...but after I told my friend how rare the rifle is he's going to look through the boxes that came with it

The stock is not original and it's missing the rear sight (totally) and part of the front as well.

It's easy to see how it slipped into junker class...but the rifling seems good. Although it looks like someone was driving nails with the end of the barrel. It's marked U.S.N. with a 4 digit S.N., from 3-4 K
Sad, because it's apparently quite rare
It came with a sportered 98 Mauser that we have no idea where it came from originally. It's got a nazi era bolt but the reciever and barrel are a mystery.
As it has a bent bolt it's going to get a scope mounted.
It swallows a 7.62 x 39mm bullet in the muzzle pretty handily so I'm thinking 8mm.
I'll get some sunlit pic's of the Lee if anyone is interested.

These were made for USN, sporter and commercial military musket style. What it was originally can be IDd by serial#.

Winchester Lee

There were about 30 or so Winchester Lee rifles salvaged from the Battleship MAINE after it blew up in Havana harbour. I do have a list of the serial numbers, and if you PM me the serial number on this one, I can tell you if it is one of those.
