Pretty cool freebie I'd say. Came out of a dusty gun cabinet.
The bolt is among the missing at present...but after I told my friend how rare the rifle is he's going to look through the boxes that came with it
The stock is not original and it's missing the rear sight (totally) and part of the front as well.
It's easy to see how it slipped into junker class...but the rifling seems good. Although it looks like someone was driving nails with the end of the barrel. It's marked U.S.N. with a 4 digit S.N., from 3-4 K
Sad, because it's apparently quite rare
It came with a sportered 98 Mauser that we have no idea where it came from originally. It's got a nazi era bolt but the reciever and barrel are a mystery.
As it has a bent bolt it's going to get a scope mounted.
It swallows a 7.62 x 39mm bullet in the muzzle pretty handily so I'm thinking 8mm.
I'll get some sunlit pic's of the Lee if anyone is interested.
