winchester lever proof stamps

I have a 1907 Winny SRC that has a strange stamp on the barrel. Both action and barrel have the Winchester oval stamp but the barrel also has a round stamp with a "P" inside it. Any idea what that signifies? i will send pics to email addy if one has an answer to the querie.

it's just a proof mark,my 94 has the same thing but it was made in 1909 and is a takedown rifle.

mine also has the winchester proof oval so i think it was a factory rebarrel for whatever reason. the circle p alone means outside install.
