that screw is for the internal cartridge guide.

i look at that picture and i don`t think anyone would do that to someone else rifle .

I don’t know that I could fix it, but I’d be curious to see it closer first hand.

The hack that did that probably drilled/tapped for a larger screw. Your best bet might be cutting that screw down to flush and filing a groove to smooth it up, then reblueing that receiver.

Any competent gunsmith should be able to tackle that.


You need to say who the “smith” was so we can avoid them. That is really really bad and totally inappropriate.

I wonder if this whole ordeal simply started with a missing screw? I suppose we will never know the full story....
