I had a scope on my '94 trapper ae for 1 season.
I took it off because it was damn near impossible to keep the optics clear when slogging thru the thick brush where we deer hunt.
I'm using a Williams peep sight now and its not quite as accurate off the bench as a scope, but its always useable regardless of what the weather is like.
Just my experience, yours may vary.

I think one of those old style Malcom telescopes leatherwood makes would look fairly sharp
