Winchester M 22 Long Rifle

It blew my 10-22 up two weeks ago. It blew the extractor right out the gun my son was shooting and hit me in the chest no one was hurt. The gun was easily put back together. I have contacted Winchester they requested that all the remaining ammo and the defective round be returned, they paid for the shipping and I am waiting for a cheque for the cost of the ammo.

I will not use this ammo again. I bought a few 1000 round packs when it was on sale. Unreliable and inconsistent, I have had better results from Remington bucket o' bullets, which is saying something as I don't hold Remington rimfire ammo in very high regard either.

The older Remington’s seem to like the bucket of “Golden Bullets” . Nylon 66 and the 552 and 572. Gentlemen in the states has been testing them out, plinking only

I bought it a couple years ago and it sucks. I still have a partial box, and suspect I will for a long time. Even the Remington thunderbolts we’re more reliable for me.

Yes I have a few bricks of M22 left. It almost seems like it’s oversized somehow. It gets stuck in the chamber (won’t go all the way in) on my Kidd barrel, my (now sold) Mkiii, and my old J Stevens bolt gun. I’ve had gasses escaping by the bolt on the J Stevens.

Won’t be buying anymore and I wish I didn’t still have some left.

I went through a box or 2 without any major issues in my 10/22 etc. Think I have only Winchester black boxes left though. Anything is better than Remington bulk IMO.

I never had any problems with it at all. It was very accurate in two .22lr pistols I own. Havent bought any in a few years (2-3) because the only store up here that sold it ran dry for a bit. I guess it sounds like the quality has taken a hit lately...

A couple of my older Mossberg bolt actions love the M22 ammo [42M and 146b]
It is accurate and has been very reliable. But, obviously, others have had other
results. Dave.

until it blew the extractor out of my gun I thought it was fine no problem loading and was very accurate.

If I'm remembering correctly there was a batch of M22 recalled a few years ago, I believe because some were double charged. You may have had one of those.

I must have gotten very lucky with the ammo from the sounds of it. I bought a 1000rd pack when they were on sale a couple of years ago. Tried them in all my rifles with decent results, but my Buckmark loved them. So I went back and bought another 4000 of the same lot number. I’ve got about 1000 left and for the 6 cents each they cost me I’m more than happy. At the current 10 cents per round one can do much better even if you get a decent lot.

I have a mossberg 715T and tried a few different kinds of ammo (CCI,Federal) but the M22 works great in the mossberg. Havnt had any fail to fire and maybe 20 fail to eject. And iv gone thru atleast 2000 rounds of M22

I have been sitting on a brick for ages, decided to include 10 rounds in a recent Chrono session.

Fed and fired fine from my Takedown 10/22. I also chronoed some Browning ammo which is identical aside from custom headstamp from Winchester. It should be indicative of more recent lots.

These run great in my csa skorpion .22.
Bought a whack of em a few years ago when things were scarce.
Now a days there are better options for the same money.
Really digging the SK magazine from site sponsor Nordic marksman.
