I hope this is a suitable place for this post, if not please let me know and perhaps suggest a better place for it.

I do not know much about Winchester rifles.
I am helping an older gentle man obtain information and hopefully a valuation for a Winchester M 94 rifle he wishes to sell.
I have visited the Winchester site and the ser. # indicates it was made in 1905 so it's quite a mature gun.
Hopefully the photos will be clear enough to allow more knowledgeable folks to tell me more about it.
It has a 3 leaf 'express' back sight, a M34C I believe.
I have test fired it and it works good.
The Bbl is 26" from muzzle to closed breech face, the bore is good with good rifling .
I have been doing an internet search of current prices being asked for similar guns which has been interesting.
I welcome anyone who would like, to offer an evaluation of what a realistic asking price might be.
Thanks

That sure is a decent example of a somewhat unmolested old 94.
Value?
I'd guesstahmate maybe north of $1500.
Oww much more, no idea.

Might be worthy of a Cody Letter.

Given what the post 64's seem to fetch now is remarkable.
Levers seem to capture the spotlight at this point in time.

Thanks for the thread and photos of that old survivor.

Beautiful old girl.

As Looky mentioned no less than $1500.00 but probably worth more to the right buyer.

The condition is very nice and it proves Winchester knew what they were doing with that "Nickle Steel". While not the equal of today's stainless alloys it holds up remarkably well.

Hi
Thanks for taking the time to reply to my posting.
I will be sure to let the owner know of your evaluation.
I have been checking online for current Canadian postings for similar age Winchesters and I have seen several ads in that price range.
But, of course, its nice to know others think this particular one could be worth as much.
Once he desides what price he wants to put on it I will probably help him post an ad here.
So thanks again
Mike

Hi.
Thanks for the reply.
I have been checking on line for Canadian ads for similar rifles, to see what others are asking.
I have seen several in this preice range.
Still its nice to know other people think this particular one could fetch a similar price.

Decent old 94, well worn but not abused. It has a half round, half octagon barrel which was special order as well as a full magazine. Almost every half round barrel you see will have a half magazine. Personally I find Winchester vintage prices have dropped in the last 20 years owing to the fact that those who are nuts about the old rifles are dying off.
The express sight is also special order.
I would price it around $1500 but would be surprised if it fetched that. High condition examples always bring top dollar, hunters not so much. My 2 cents.

Mike Webb:
Hello:
Thanks for your message and comments.
Your comment about the half round bbl and the length of the magazine is interestting.
Do you mind if I ask what the point of the half round configuration was?
The owner has been happy at the potential values suggested by you and others.
He does appreciate that a price asked may not be realized but it seems $ 1,500.00 is not an inappropriate starting point.
So it's possible he will be posting an ad here in the future.
Thanks
Mike

At risk of speaking for Mr. Webb, I would offer an explanation.

Purely aesthetic. No real functional purpose for it except perhaps that it very slightly removed weight out toward the muzzle. Aside from that, just looks nice.

Your friend's rifle is a lovely old girl.

Kamlooky:
You are correct Sir.
I need to learn to read upside down for when I select photos.
Now, if I can just figure out how to remove it!

Ah, thank you Mr. Dan.
Well that makes sense to me, that 50/50 bbl does look sweet.

Very nice rifle unmolested which is a huge plus these days most Hunter grade rifles usually have some alterations sanded sticks or buffed metal or something
Half round half octagon is fairly common if the bore is in very good plus condition the rifle is worth 1800$-2000$

Nice rifle for a hunter/shooter. Not really a collectors rifle, a little too gray in the finish. There are a few for sale online with more condition in the neighborhood of $1200.
