Winchester M70 308 Sporter Varmint - Value???

I searched the forum for any info on my Winchester M70 Sporter Varmint but did not find anything.

Would any Members happen to know the value of a lightly used Win M70 308 cal. "Sporter Varmint" barrel? I understand they've been discontinued.

Blueing is near perfect, and checking is 99%. One or two very small finish scratches on wood stock.

Any advise is most appreciated.
 
I'll verify age, although they stopped making these sometime ago.

Entire firearm and any mounts seen in pics. Mounts done by SC Gunworks in Markham.
 
"...Date of manufacture..." That only matters if it was made before 1964.
Winchester is out of the bolt action rifle business. They quit making the M70 in 2006.
Shooter's Choice has a plastic stocked 6.5-06 with the 'Sporter' weight barrel they're asking $550 for. Epp's recently sold one with a synthetic stock in .300 Win Mag for $499. I'd say yours is worth about the same. $500 to $600.

I've been getting a lot of interest on it due to the resumed production of the Model 70 series, but this model, the Sporter Varmint, is not one of those to be produced again.
 
The "Sporter Varmint" was a push-feed Model 70 that was meant to appeal to those shooters who wanted a heavy barrel without the wider forearm that typically accompanies a varmint rifle.

IIRC, they were done in the mid-'80's. I bought one (in .308) a couple of years ago for ~$500 (in mint shape). No idea what you might pay for one today.

Yes that's right - mid 80's. I have one in 243 with a medium heavy 26" barrel - nice rig. They are scarce, and if you just must have one, worth a premium, but in all likelihood it's a $500 gun to most people.

Thanks for your input. I've noticed greater demand in the US than here, yet still I suppose it's in the $550 to $650 range. Will post at that price or will let it go to fellow nutz member I know.
