Winchester M70 coyote rifles

@Meannea
First,i'd like to say that i use my targetknobs, in order to adjust for elevation and winddrift.Seondly,you can use your ballistic-tables to calculate your trajectory,but since every gun is different,i shoot at 50 yds increment ,in order to assess and establish my true trajectory.I never said that i shoot 10 rds groups at afore-mentioned distance,since the rifle is a hunting rifle and not a 1000yds Match-rifle.My groups consists of 5 rnd groups and i would not dream of trieing to go to a 1000 yard shoot with it,but having my own 1000 yard range on my property makes it easy to test ones rifle to the max.Lastly,i shot for 11 years in the Austrian long-range Marksmanship team and competed in various Police and Military events.I hope that will satisfy some of you and as"6mm shooter "says,perhaps you should go out and practice a bit more.I bet you can't see the target anymore if you don't use targetknobs for long-range shooting.My intentions where ,to indicate that some out of the box rifles are capable of sterling performance and it had nothing to do with me bragging about 1000 yd hits.For those of you ,who regularly shoot long-range,hitting a 6'x4'Target isn't that complicated,the challenge is to hit or come close to the bulls-eye consistantly,rain or shine.Of course,those who don't shoot regularily,1000 or even 500 yds is a challenge.Yet someone ,who thinks you hold over ,in order to engage a 1000yd target is questioning me,that makes me wonder.

Varminter,seems like you have to get yourself a digital camera,to satisfy the "infidels".-Rainer

It never ceases to amaze me that so many members on this site are "johnny on the spot" to be critical of others when they don't have a clue as to the individuals background or shooting abilities.

Many members of this site would do well to spend as much time shooting as they do posting, they might find that their shooting would improve enough to be able to shoot "Sub MOA out to 1000yds".

As has been stated previously in this thread, the number of posts you have is not indicative of your shooting ability or knowledge.

Yup and there are many members here that have a ton of experience on the bench and in the field shooting long range. Suggesting that a factory rifle can shoot sub MOA @1000 yards and claiming to have done it is a very heady claim don't you think.:confused:
No one is calling anyone a liar and asking for pics is the name of the game here... it proves who is actually walking the walk and who is just talking.
The only ones here that are whining about post counts are the ones with very few posts... :p
I gotta tell you fellas... trying to get instant credibility on this forum by posting grandious claims is not going to win you any respect.:rolleyes:
I think you need to lighten up boys this is the internet there are no prizes and no cash rewards just good entertainment and information.
If you can glean the wheat from the chaff.;)

I really am jealous of a 1000 yard range... I can only shoot 600 yards on mine:( .... and I am curious as to the type of riflescope you are using to shoot at 1000 yards... legitimate questions don't you think.:eek:

I have steel sillouettes and target boards out to 500 yards Mike...the 600 yarder is a little sketchy for safety... on my own property right beside the house. I went out this morning and sat down at the bench... a coyote walked across the gun range at the 300 yard target board... I missed... twice....:redface:
You get down this way give me a PM.... we will spank some steel... the coyotes are little educated now;)

@Bigredd
,I will post a picture,once i get hold of a Digital camera,just to satisfy your curiosity.By the way,Rainer and Predator can confirm thr range as they do shoot there ,very regularily.Scope is an Elite 4200,4-16 power.I did not want anything heavier on it,since they rifle is intended for Hunting,but good enough for testing the capabilities of a rifle.Reference to credibility:As i said it before,my post was not about my shooting skill,yet it was about the performance of a given rifle and nothing more.If you feel threatened by that,i shall apologize.There is a lot of factory rifles out there that will shoot Sub MOA,right out of the box with appropriate handloads.Any Steyr,Sako,Sauer or Tikka,just to name a few.Winchester are normally not my first choice of weapon,but i did like the configureraton of the "Coyote"and i was pleasantly surprised by the way it shot.

You don't need to apologize to me Varminter. I treat all such claims with equal skepticism and humorous riposte.:p
I am certain that whenever an unknown entity makes this type of statement to you the veracity of the statement is immediately doubtful in your mind.:confused:
I find that this is one place where you can challenge a claim without creating a social dilemma.:rolleyes:
In the world of cyberspace only those that feel the need to defend themselves are truly threatened.:cool:
I would really love to be able to shoot @1000 yards... and I am sincerely jealous of your range.:redface:
What the heck do you use to retrieve the targets... I hope you have good ATV!:)

Bigredd,we use steel plates at that particular range Varminter,Predator and myself are shooting at.No need to retrieve targets.Spottingscopes is all we need.-Rainer

Right on... good spotters for 1000 yards are very expensive... what do you paint your plates with? I base coat with tremclad flat black and then whitwash them.. it seems to show the bullet strikes very well. When the plates start to get beat up you can whitewash them quickly and they dry while you walk back to the bench.

I guess,i'll be answering your question,since rainer must have fallen asleep on the reloading-bench.We used red as a base coat(since that's what was available at the time) and sprayed white outdoors paint over top and really layered it on.White makes em' protrude pretty good against the green background.The multitude of layers seems to enlarge the impact intentations of the bullets.

Varminter,I just ansered the question,since it takes too long for you to put your thoughts into words.-Best regards brother.-Rainer
