Sorry, not much of a poster but do a lot of reading and couldn’t find the
Info I was looking for.
Might be in the wrong section too ,so I apologize if in the wrong forum.
1 guys with Winchester model 100’s , have any of you had the firing pin factor safety recall done
In the last six years?
2 if so, did you have to pay for the new firing pin or the work from the gunsmith or did
Winchester cover the costs?
3 Was there any documentation given to you proving the firing pin was replaced?
4 Can you contact Winchester to see if the recall has been done?

I contacted Winchester through email and they gave me a number to Orline Winchester which ive yet to contact, but will soon.
I’m having a dispute with a gun I had taken a model 100 in two him 6 years ago to have the recall done.
Yes I know (yes years is too long plus I had other fire arms being worked on which turned out to be a disaster) but I was giving him the benefit of the doubt, he was blaming Winchester for lack of corporating and other things came in life..
But now it’s kinda gotten ugly with all the firearms.

Sorry for the long questioning, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had the firing pin upgrade done last year at Longs in Bewdly, On. No charge! He just entered the serial number in his book. I don't know whereabouts you're located, but whoever you're dealing with doesn't seem to clutched in.

Blamed Winchester for not sending out a firing pin. When I finally emailed
Winchester myself and they responded in less in 24 hrs on how abouts to get the firing pin.
Then when I showed barry the email the recall all of a sudden was fixed. I still don’t believe
It is a new firing pin as I will be asking for documentation.
He was checking the head spacing on a Winchester model 88
And was building me a 404 Jeffery on a husky 98 action, which he completely failed on
and is returning a bunch of useless parts, he would even offer up the barrel after 6 years of bs so I
Could take it to another gunsmith to work on... just said “no charge” like he was doing me a favour .
To be fair he did offer up a less of value husky to me but of course was keeping my parts.
Nothing but excuses.
 
I did one years ago.
Winchester wants your old firing pin first.
Serial number of the firearm also.
When they get your old f/p they will send out a new one and
I do believe there was a monetary note as well.
Can't remember the amount.

Mine was done and back in December of last year. No cost except shipping to the gunsmith.

No letter to prove it is done but they do mark the gun, somehow, to indicate it was done and if you call Winchester they can tell that your gun has be worked on by the serial number.

I don't think you want to ship to ON but if you do I can find the information for the gunsmith.
 
I've done countless recalls for the Win 100 and usually have firing pins on hand. Each original pin is marked with the serial number from the rifle it's removed from and sent to Olin with a letter indicating the rifle's serial number again. I do not keep records for them, that's their thing.
 
I had one done a few years ago, no charge, and no documentation, you can check online to see if the gun has the upgraded firing pin.
 
I have watched Keith at Longs in Bewdely and when he is done he stamps a letter inside the receiver to indicate the pin has been changed. He said if a firing pin has been changed by a gunsmith that does warranty work for Winchester the receiver will be stamped.

I did my own a few years ago (not much of a job actually). I checked the available database and found that the rifle I had purchased had not had the pin replaced so asked for a replacement. got one, put it in and forgot about it. My rifles serial number is now in the database. BTW, I got a check for $20 to cover the cost of a gunsmith but just cashed it and did it myself. Hardest part of the job was getting the action back in the stock without buggering it (the stock) up.
